I'm finally at the end of an exhausting week and I'm really glad I can do nothing tomorrow but simply stay at home, curl up in my armchair and read my neglected Kafka short stories.
I started my week with the Anime Club chalet dinner held at Aloha Changi. Juliana and I bought a special 'surprise' for our juniors - a classic English Christmas pudding from Marks and Spencer. I had wanted to try what a Christmas pudding tasted like and the Anime Chalet provided the perfect opportunity, haha. But apart from that, I really wanted to give my kawaii kouhai-tachi a treat and was rewarded in return with lots of BL between K* and G*****l!! ~woohoo~
It was also good to see and catch up with YJ and Aik Leong, whom I have not seen for a pretty long time since I graduated. They'll be joining the alumni very soon, and then we can all have more fun at the alumni chalets ^^
The next day, I met Joan for afternoon tea at Cova, a very upmarket Italian tearoom in Paragon. Cova is probably the closest you can get to the Swallowtail butler cafe in Singapore (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0Oot6HUGiY&feature=related), although the waiters there are more Tanaka than Sebastian XD
Hmm, it seems like I'm unintentionally revealing all my "true" motives for meeting up with my friends...
Although the food was pricey, I think it was worth every cent I paid. The iced cappuccino I ordered was aromatic and thick (not watery like Starbucks' poor excuse for coffee). The cake named "Aurora" had a delightfully fluffy and feathery texture and the strawberry mousse burst with real strawberry flavour once I bit into it. Absolutely heavenly! And of course, Joan was the perfect companion for the afternoon. ^^
On Friday, I went to the Singapore Art Museum with my sister to visit the "Is it Tomorrow Yet?" and the Japan Media Festival exhibitions. Although I was initially excited about seeing modernist and postmodernist works by the likes of Warhol and Nam June Paik, seeing too many abstract, geometric paintings bored me after a while. There is only so much of lines and grids and squares that I can take in a day.
The Japan Media Festival was more interesting with interactive games and screenings of cutting-edge animation (I particularly liked the typographical animation done for Issey Miyake), but I was actually expecting an exhibition on a larger scale...
After our visit to the museum, my sister and I proceeded to Bras Basah for my first photoshoot. It wasn't exactly a cosplay photoshoot but I had wanted to try constructing a different kind of 'image'. I wasn't very sure how to pose properly, but thanks to my sister's direction, I think most of the photos turned out alright. The pictures will eventually be uploaded when my sister is done editing them. And when that time comes, for those of you who are familiar with anime/manga, I think you can tell where the fashion influences came from :)
And finally, I went to EOY today. As my sister was busy helping out STAC with baggage security and cosplaying as Setsuna from Gundam 00, I had to go around taking photos on her behalf. I think seeing 3 pretty good Kuroshitsuji cosplays made my day ^^
Butlers rock.
