Bureaucracy in NUS never fails to amaze me.

FASS is making me sit for the Diagnostic English Test because it's now a blanket policy that all grad students, regardless of nationality and medium of undergraduate instruction (and if I may add, regardless of the area of study for which the degree was conferred!) have to take the test so that the faculty doesn't have to rack their brains over the immensely complex question of whether a student who has graduated with an Hons degree in ENGLISH literature 6 months ago should be packed off for remedial English classes.

Apparently grad students are not mature enough to decide for themselves whether or not they should take the English modules if they find themselves struggling with the language after their enrolment.

And guess what's even funnier? I was sent an email this morning from the Registrar's Office telling me to do pre-registration for my registration on 7 Jan.
