Today's the first day of the new academic year in NUS and for the first time in 4 years, I'm not in school. O____o
It feels kind of weird. I'm very glad, of course, to have this long holiday where I can finally pay attention to things I've not had the time to do, like improving my drawing skills and revising my rusty Japanese, but at the same time, I miss all the fun and bustle of preparing for another school year - costume-making sessions, Matric Fair, buying towers of books at the Co-op, even bidding in CORS.
Kevin's in school right now and telling me over msn how chaotic it is with the new crop of freshies. Last year I was pretty annoyed that the freshies were crowding up the whole place from the Arts Canteen to the 3rd Level of Central Library.
I suppose I would still be annoyed if I were in school today, but there's something about the noise and crowds and buzzing activity on the first day of the academic year that just gets your heart beating and adrenaline pumping and you're all ready to go for another 15 weeks of non-stop studying.
But I will have to make do with experiencing the beginning of the new school year vicariously. And to help you guys who have graduated do the same, here are some photos of the Matric Fair which my sister took =) http://s222.photobucket.com/albums/dd180/thickfish/matric%20fair%2008/?start=0
