the space between words

It's been quite a while since I last blogged, 'cos I have been (and still am) very busy with schoolwork. Sometimes I wonder if I will get everything that needs to be done on time, but I know there is little purpose in freaking myself out with such thoughts. As the Bellorophoniad shows us, too much self-consciousness about self-consciousness leads to paralysis. Just do it, as the Nike ads say.

So I'm not going to gripe about screwing up my metafictions test or not being able to finish my postcol readings or taking such a long time to produce the third chapter (which a certain smiley faced supervisor is smiley face waiting for with smiley face anticipation). I'm sure you already get enough of my angst-ing when you see me.

I'm going to talk about things that make me happy instead. And I hope they make you happy too.

1. Visit this website http://puccho.jp to see what marketing means in Japan. Kawaii-ness is serious business. I can't believe the food manufacturers actually employ people to make sites like this that serve no other ostensible purpose except to cheer stressed people like me up (and to make us feel like buying more puccho sweets too).

2. Versailles. A really good VK band which I highly recommend. The guitarists Hizaki and Teru are superb and the whole band works well to create melodic heavy metal Gothic rock which has traces of X Japan. And Kamijo's voice sounds much better than what it did when he was in Lareine. I am definitely going to buy their debut album Lyrical Sympathy.

I can't really decide which song to recommend 'cos almost all of them are pretty good, but have a listen to Sforzando.

3. Gazette's latest single Guren. I'm addicted to it. Gazette's ballads are always so melancholically beautiful.
