the space between words

I'm absolutely bursting with exuberance now, despite having slept only three and a half hours last night. And also despite the very disappointing turn of events regarding our anime event. We've screwed up again. Spectacularly. ><;

Anyway, I've finally completed the second chapter of my HT and it looks way better than the first chapter. The whole process of planning and writing, though it was laborious, was definitely a much more pleasant and enjoyable experience than the first time. Hope it shows in the finished product.

The only problem (and this is actually a very big problem) is that the second chapter, like the first, is near 5000 words long, and I'm supposed to keep to a word limit of approximately 3000 words per chapter. Oops.

But I'm writing about THREE Woolf novels, and each of them is so rich and dense and full of interesting and illuminating and complex issues to talk about that I can't help going over the word limit. Plus Dr Y told me that he wanted "more complex" arguments so...

But one must be ruthless and cut the chapters down to size. I certainly don't want to end up having to delete half the entire HT at the end of the semester. That would totally break my heart (and my health, due to the excess of slogging throughout the whole sem).

Ok, nothing much else to update you guys about. Oh yes, please come for our anime talk and screening tomorrow evening (Fri, 29 Feb) at the NUS UCC if you have the time. We've invited speakers from Singapore-based Japanese animation studio and school 77-star, and we'll also be screening The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. It's part of the NUS Arts Festival.
