the space between words

What do you do when your term paper about the Gothic turns Gothic on you?

You feel like smashing your head on the wall, wailing and thumping your fists on the ground and plunging into the abyss of despair. Very Goth behaviour indeed.

In my interpretation, the Japanese VK "gothic" bands and fans have no problems with transgressing boundaries of gender and genre. But THE PERSON WRITING THE PAPER ON THE JAPANESE VK GOTHIC STYLE has a problem with transgression. How does one write a coherent, logical paper on cultural texts which keep destabilizing binaries and overlapping between categories? Gothic excess is all fine and good, just not in my paper.
