the space between words

This is just to tell all those people who care that I'm still alive and sane.

I've just completed my HT research proposal outline and it looks pretty ok. I've got my tiny gap to make my "critical intervention" so at least I can make a small (a really, really small) claim for a degree of originality. And I didn't have to resort to Plan B, which was to expand my Asia Moderns final term paper topic into a potential HT topic (and then get into all sorts of trouble because I "plagiarized" my own work). Frankly speaking, the whole idea of a research proposal being "plagiarism" of another essay one has not written yet or has done already but merits greater elaboration sounds utterly ridiculous to me. It's not as if you're resubmitting the exact same essay. If we are supposed to "supplement" other critics' work, why can't we "supplement" our own?

Anyway, I'm glad the proposal outline has turned out alright. Hope I can still say the same after the presentation of the outline on Monday...
