I watched The Girl Who Leapt Through Time yesterday evening with the club!
It's been a long time since I've watched an anime movie on the big screens and I wasn't disappointed. The animation for this movie is very clean and simple, with hardly any shading at all on the characters' hair and faces, but it has a good heartwarming story that anyone who has been a teenager can identify with. And its not sentimental in a weepy, You've-got-(insert any terminal disease)-but-I'll-love-you-eternally-till-the-end-of-time Korean melodrama way, but in a quirky way with the sweetness balanced with youthful innocence and a hearty sense of humour. I really enjoyed it! ^^p
After the movie, we had a late dinner at this HK restaurant in Cineleisure where we engaged in our usual madness. We debated over what kind of food Victor's caifan was and came to the conclusion that it was Singapore-style HK-style Shanghai-style caifan. Talk about glocalization. We also pushed around a dissected gyoza till someone relented and ate the last piece. After the dinner, we even met Anti-JM dressed in black as we were standing outside the entrance to Cineleisure, blocking the thoroughfare while having meandering discussions on what to do next (as usual). My sister the future quantum physicist says JM cannot come into contact with Anti-JM, otherwise both positive and negative entities will mutually-destruct and the massive energy generated as a result will blow Singapore off the face of the earth...
Can't wait for the next club outing to catch Paprika premiering in Singapore on July 19! =D
