the space between words

Haha, I'm blogging again just after penning my last entry this 'morning' at 3am.

It turns out the Lit gang is not going to be able to watch the RSC perform in Singapore in the end. After much wrangling over whether we should go for McKellen's performances or not, whether we should watch Lear or Seagull, when we should watch and so on and so forth, we finally decided on a date and then realised that all $80 tickets for that show were sold out by that time. And being the impoverished uni students that we are, we decided to simply give up the whole enterprise rather than buy pricier tickets. =(

Ok, let's put aside old grievances and move on to something new. My mom recently discovered a Chinese translation of a Kogepan manga in the Handicrafts section of Bishan Library, and I've been reading bits of it everyday. The drawings are really cute but really perverse and depressing. I know I sound like a weirdo, but I do feel gloomy when I'm faced with such kinds of kawaii Japanese mascots. It's so terribly painful when I see these cute little buns trying so hard to get themselves picked by customers at the bakery and saying really disturbing things like "Thank you for the great honour of choosing me!" and smiling their megawatt "professional smile"... Doesn't anybody else in this world think this is perverse? Who in his/her right mind asks to be eaten?? And the pictures of the filling coming out of the buns' heads... *shudder*
This is reminding me too much of Anpanman.

And yet the mascots are just so damn cute! And I do laugh at their silly antics and get all obsessed about their absolute kawaii-ness. And the greatest irony is, I now feel this irresistable desire to go out and buy all the Kogepan manga at Kino and torment myself with them. Perhaps I'm the perverse one here.
