the space between words

Today marks the end of our 3-day manga resale! A big thank you to all those who contributed their time and effort, especially physical effort, which I realise our CCA demands quite a lot of from both guys and girls. The NUS Anime Club operates on feminist principles, hehe.

My arms are now aching slightly from carrying the heavy bags of manga around but I think this doesn't come anywhere near the experience of carrying a wooden artist's easel on one arm and 2 heavy bags on the other and walking for 15 min all the way from YIH to Science for the Bazaar in semester one...

And because I stupidly left the YIH cupboard key in my trouser pocket yesterday, KC and I went all the way to YIH for nothing and were really late for our History lecture (which is turning into a congregation point of sorts for lots of people I know; KC is the fifth person whom I have found out by coincidence to be taking this module too). But thankfully my parents came to pick me up from school or I would have to lug the club banner and tablecloth all the way back by MRT... >__<

Next week promises to be an even busier one. I have 2 presentations lined up, one on Roland Barthes and Poststructuralism for Crit Theory and the other on Medea for Tragedy. And I have group meetings with the Crit Theory group on Mon, the Medea group on Tue and the Pop Culture in Japan group on Thur. And because the Pop Culture group can only meet on Thur at that particular time slot, I have to come back to school on Wed, my free day, to watch the film that I'm supposed to write a review on for History class...

And there's so much reading to be done! The lecture notes on Structuralism and Semiotics are less like notes and more like prodigiously long commentaries by the Prof (in stark contrast to the minimalist "3 key words" kind of lecture notes from the previous weeks), then there's Poe's short stories, Peter Singer's Marx, the extremely tedious Book of Job, tons of poems in European languages I don't understand and History readings I haven't exactly been keeping up with. And there are projects and papers looming ominously in the distance...

I'm already going crazy in week 5 of school.

But on the bright side, there are always things to look forward to, like even week Monday afternoons and lunches with friends and listening to my new D'espairsRay coll: set album (which has finally arrived from Japan!) and Get Backers on weekends. And the little ordinary moments like when you bump unexpectedly into people you know and like along the corridors or when you take a train ride home with friends, that really brighten your day and make you feel better in spite of your William Wilson blunders. =)
