Just back from STAC EOY cosplay convention at Expo!

This year, the NUS Anime Club had a booth promoting Graphite 2007 and we took the opportunity to showcase our Otousan (from Azumanga Daiou) mascot cosplayer. Surprisingly, many photographers, including the 'pro' ones, wanted to take its picture. As a result, Shilei, the Otousan and I are featured on the sgcafe forums, and we look... weird.

Apparently there was a staged battle between our Otousan and the brown box-like mascot (I keep forgetting its name... Doumokun... kana?) ending in the two of them hugging, BUT I MISSED IT!!! I must have been doing stage duty for STAC at that time... T___T

There weren't any breathtakingly spectacular cosplays this year, but the team cosplay groups were pretty good, with elaborate costumes and weapons, and well-choreographed fight scenes. The part when Mori-senpai piggy-backed Hani-senpai and ran around the stage was very cute. Unfortunately, my sister's camera was too slow to capture it.

I would really like to post the photos my sis took but our camera was malfunctioning quite badly that day, so most of the photos came out blurry. By the end of the event, the camera could no longer distinguish the difference between colours, so everthing became a whirr... =___="

Speaking of photos, a strange transformation appears to have come over my ex-Math tutor, who incidentally is one of the 'pro' cosplay photographers in the local scene. He's usually pretty reserved, even though he taught me for 4 years, but at EOY, he came straight up to me when the club was setting up the booth and CALLED MY NAME DIRECTLY AND SMILED AND WAVED IN A SUPER-GENKI MANNER. He usually doesn't even remember my name!!!

And when my sis and I were walking around the booths outside a few hours later, we bumped into him again and he asked us in a very friendly way, "Wanna take picture?" He has never asked us for a picture before. But my sis and I saw that he was talking to his clique of photographer friends, and we quickly walked away. At the end of the event, I deliberately went up to him and said "Bye bye" and amazingly, he actually responded with "Bye bye" and more super-genki waving. I'm quite freaked out. My sister guesses he might have been on a sugar-high. Maybe he drank some of that Ouran High Host Club Shoumin Coffee.

After the event, the club adjourned to this Japanese restaurant in Robertson Quay for a konpa session. We lost a few members along the way and were shocked pretty badly when the waitress told us that we were expected to order $40-$50 worth of food per person because we reserved the private room. Thankfully the restaurant decided to let us off but I think they got back at me when they 'forgot' what the Mentaiko spaghetti was and I got my meal one hour later when everyone else had finished already.
