What a busy weekend!

On Sun, several of us from the Anime Club committee (and 1 normal member, poor guy!) made our way to Downtown East for the annual Cosfest 2006. Despite the trademark controversy and ZJ and co.'s attempt to boycott the event (ahem, we did not see you inside the dome that day, ZJ...), the turnout was surprisingly large this year. Possibly it was because the local rounds of the World Cosplay Competition were being held at Cosfest. Unfortunately, there were no really, really spectacular costumes this year and the same old series were being repeated. I'm so sick and tired of seeing Gundam characters (especially Lacus!) and huge Bleach groups. The Bleach groups seem to want to outdo each other in size every cosplay convention...

I also developed a "hallucination/reality" syndrome. I thought I saw Ricky standing a few metres away but I wasn't sure if it was him 'cos the person really did not look like him. I asked Sam to confirm and she told me with utmost confidence that it couldn't possibly be him. But it turned out to be him -____-"

Then I thought I spotted Misaki from Lucify standing in the corner. Sam got really excited over my apparent "find" and we approached him to take a picture, but it turned out it wasn't Misaki. (But it was a rather good-looking guy... ^___^;)

Suddenly there was a big commotion behind one of the screens. For some inexplicable reason, it occured to me that there must be some guy from Lucify there who had caught his fans' attention and that they were in all likelihood mobbing him. Lots of people rushed behind the screen to take a peek but actually, it was only the Ouran cosplayers doing some yaoi stuff (not that that was bad in itself...)

Disappointed, Sam and I began to walk out of the hall. As I was struggling through the throngs of people, I caught a glimpse of a guy who looked like Shinya (from Lucify again) without make-up. But after so many wrong guesses, I was a bit hesitant. Sam, however, went up to him and asked him if he was from Lucify, and it turned out we had really hit the jackpot the last time!! So as a reward, Sam and I got a picture with Shinya! Whee...

[To fast-forward a little in time, I swear I saw the vocalist of Defuse frolicking with some female classmates right outside the 2nd-floor entrance to my office block today. I don't see dead people; I see J-rock people...]

After Cosfest, I rushed all the way down to Bugis for a long-awaited dinner gathering with the Lit friends at Ma Maison. It was good to see the three of them again, and we had a really fun time talking about PDAs (not the tech gadget), delicious ironies and Saitou Teriyaki. It'll really be great if we can be in the same classes next semester, though it looks like I'll be the only one studying 20th century Lit with our beloved Dr Y (or my beloved for that matter XD)

Let's all take a moment to savour the delicious irony...
