the space between words

Finished my presentation on Paul Mazursky's Tempest (a really shrewd adaptation of Shakespeare's The Tempest) on Fri. I was a little nervous at the time but the presentation proceeded rather smoothly, with the only hiccup being me saying "loosier" when I meant "looser" -___-"

I had initially thought that Mazursky's Tempest was an awful tearing to bits of Shakespeare, and that the only things it had in common with the source text were the names (they were modernized and changed too, in many cases) and some elements of the plot. Something along the lines of the anime Saiyuuki...

But it turns out that the film was a lot cleverer than that. If one looks closely enough, one can see that Shakespeare's text is systematically present and disguised in Mazursky's modernized version. I really ought to have been more aware of that but my really lame excuse would be that I initially watched only half of the film without knowing that I watched only half of it. Plus the TV I was using in the library was so screwed up all I saw was static... Thank goodness I read the critical essay and realised that I was missing out on half of the action. So I attended the screening organized by my lecturer on Tue and enjoyed half an hour of his company ALL ALONE in the library theatrette -___-"
How could my class do that to me!!??

Right now I'm having my Phantasmagoria fix while blogging and it feels so good! And I just bought a new skirt at the market this morning. Since I'm in a good mood, I'm uploading some songs I like for you guys!

Siam Shade - Life

OMG this is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. I first heard it sung by Myidarre at the NUS J-rock concert and I was spellbound then as much as I am spellbound now. I am still a metal-person but the occasional well-sung J-rock ballad still makes my day.

Girugamesh - Glamourous Sky

This is Girugamesh's cover of the Nakashima Mika song from the NANA movie. It's a pretty good cover.
