Brandon invited me to join the JSS in its reception of some Japanese students who have come from Osaka to visit NUS as part of their Singapore home-stay programme and so I joined in on Fri. It was pretty interesting except that the Japanese students tended to be very quiet. But there was one guy (I think his name was Yuuta) who was surprisingly proficient in English. Now I know I shouldn't assume that Japanese people can't speak good English but it's generally the case when the main medium of instruction in Japan is Japanese, after all.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Yuuta-kun spoke really good English and I guess all of us present were quite pleasantly surprised. I definitely was because it meant I didn't have to speak much Japanese. I can't believe how much I've forgotten in three months of hiatus from Japanese class. I really had better brush up again during the summer holidays. Brandon and Jinshen(naturally) took care of the others who couldn't, or wouldn't, speak much English...
And then Jinshen and this other guy got stupid ideas into their head. I hope this blows over soon for I don't relish the thought of getting teased mercilessly when I next turn up for any JMC event. Thankfully, that won't be anytime soon...
